PHP Formatter has been made by Gerben van Veenendaal, the owner of Spark Labs.
The design has been made by Jeroen van Veenendaal, the second owner of Spark Labs.

Core engine
The core of PHP Formatter has been written in C++, because of it's speed.
The PHP code is first scanned and parsed according to PHP gramar files.
The node tree of the PHP code is then put through the formatter, which decides where to put spaces and indentations.
This way, PHP Formatter can't misinterpret anything.
On top of that, parsing the files gives the opportunity to show syntax errors as PHP would have shown them.

Graphical interface
The graphical user interface has been written in PHP.
The PHP framework features a template engine and dynamic page classes.
Everything on this site is editable by a Content Management System.
